The farmer and his wife are amazed at how the cheese keeps disappearing, but they can never seem to catch the thief. Eventually, they give up and stop keeping cheese in the pantry altogether.
The mouse, on the other hand, is overjoyed. She has outwitted the farmer and his wife and proven that she is just as capable as any other animal on the farm. She has achieved her goal and gotten the cheese, despite all the obstacles in her way. And she knows that with hard work and determination, she can achieve anything she sets her mind to.
