Fray was killed after being "savagely" beaten about the head and face and then strangled; Farrow died following a fall down the basement steps in the home she shared with Durkin in 1970, a fall in which she broke both legs and both arms. The act destroyed the family. I don't even know who the neighbors are! When Halie says that she once went to the horse races with a horse breeder, a "wonderful man," she cannot remember if it happened in Florida or California, but remembers that they won a lot of money.
