They record every single detail that they could. Katniss thinks the following: her name is Katniss Everdeen; she is 17, she lived in District 12; she competed in the Hunger Games; she escaped from the Games; the Capitol views her as an enemy; her dear friend Peeta was captured by the government, and he may be dead. It was like someone stabbing a mouse with a fork repeatedly. Gale, however, argues that Katniss left Coin no choice.
Should she feel grateful to Coin and District 13? Katniss spots fellow tribute Finnick Odair. Katniss, too, has made her way to District 13. Instead, the squad works to help him distinguish what is real from what was planted in his mind by the Capitol. They do not have a choice but to fight, though, when a "pod" kills Soldier Leeg 2. The irony of the situation is that she may eventually have to kill this boy who helped keep her alive, since only one person can survive the Hunger Games. Katniss insists that she is, even as she stares at dead bodies lying on the ground. Despite her mental fragility, Katniss must attend the rebels' frequent strategy meetings, during which she remains detached.
Chapter 27 As President Coin dies, Snow begins laughing and dies, too. Flickerman suggests to Peeta that Katniss was working with the rebels—a suggestion that Peeta angrily negates.
