This suggests that the root causes of gun violence, such as poverty, drug abuse, and mental illness, are more important factors in reducing gun violence than the availability of guns.
In addition, the right to bear arms is protected by the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. This amendment has been interpreted by the Supreme Court as an individual right, meaning that Americans have the right to own guns for self-defense and other lawful purposes.
