Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. This book tried me to the point of breaking. I love watching it every now and again, and despite all of the violence and death, it provides lots of positive messages, such as making friends, strategical thinking, and loyalty…all involving survival. Katniss is sixteen years old and she's been in two Hunger Games, fighting against twenty-odd opponents to the death. Kids as young as 12 are picking these books up, and what are they finding? Before I saw the movie, I had read half of the book, and I understood what was going on and what was happening. I'd keep Peeta around too. .
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
Katniss regularly fails at patient and kind. The battles, the politics, it was all such an amazing novel and the end to an amazing series. I think at one point Katniss and Peeta sleep together, but it's really just sleep and honestly nothing more. Who's the drugged-up shadow that's replaced her? I understand the message Collins is trying to convey and I agree with it: that war is awful and no one truly wins. Despite this, many parents and teachers are having angst about the book. She should make up her mind about who she wants instead of leading them both on! Plus, she thinks you HAVE to read the book first. Sometimes we need a little help to pick ourselves off the floor and start again.
What Age Is Appropriate To Read The Hunger Games?
The whole point is discussing why all of those things are bad and discusting. Too real for me. Especially if you choose to have your child watch the whole series. But even in this aspect of her life, she didn't get to CHOOSE, which is basically the story of her life. Collins wove in a few questions to ponder. In Catching Fire the second book Katniss and Peeta make out on the beach, they also kiss and sleep in the same bed often, but they never have sex.
Kid reviews for The Hunger Games, Book 1
I've seen both of the other movies for this series, and while I enjoyed them greatly, the third instalment was on another level entirely. We also participate in other affiliate programs which compensate us for referring traffic. But that only works when there's an underlying message of hope and of optimism. Much harder to read, and with more emotional depth, I think. I didn't love it and I'm not sure it satisfied me, but it was a disturbing read that will stick with me. I LOVE the books, and this is probably one of the best book to movie adaptations I've seen in a long time.
Should I Let My Ten
Is Suzanne Collins is a genius, she is fearless and I have a great respect for the gutsiness of hers that didn't allow her to settle for an ending all wrapped up in pink paper with a perfect little bow. Still, the little tyke managed to escape when he was ten so he only had to endure the first half of his life with unspeakable cruelty and torturous living conditions that left him unable to grow. But as I kept reading, I realized. I'd also highly doubt that this would come of any shock to Peeta. What did Katniss get to do except be an empty canvas for them to paint and feed lines to? Have you read Beartown by Fredrik Bachman? I'm not the biggest Hunger Games fan. The Hunger Games series is rated for teens ages 13 to 18 in the seventh to twelfth grades.
Mockingjay: The Hunger Games, Book 3 Book Review
I do think Collins is a good writer; she definitely knows how to write and tell a story. . Though both teens are allowed to return to home, Haymitch tells Katniss that the Capitol is furious with their attempt to throw the Games. To sum it all up, it is one of my all-time FAVORITES! She ended up with Peeta, which would have been fine if it had been executed properly. They were quite beautiful, actually, as long as I pushed myself to suck up everything I hated about the miserable and hopeless tone of this book.
