I hope I got it right and they do not look at this as an anti-Arab or anti-Saudi book. When the bellboy greeted me in Russian, I knew I had landed on one of those Russian beachheads I'd heard so much about. It didn't take me long, though, to notice that a couple things were out of place: the pack of little blond boys running around on the front lawn, shouting in Russian, and the young girls wearing identical bandeau bikinis, reading glossy Moscow weeklies by the pool. Baer is a former CIA case officer, one of his later books was turned into the movie Syriana, it was very loosely adapted. This book explains how the growing royal family 6,000 princes in 2000 -- even more now is absorbing all of the wealth while the rest of the country suffers, aided and abetted by not only Western oil companies but other multinationals particularly in defense, and various governments. Tomorrow I could put my hand on twenty TELs and a hundred pencils.

In the second the author through his experiences in the CIA shows how the US is ill equipped to fight the terrorism due to the Saudi influence. Baer is a former CIA case officer, one of his later books was turned into the movie Syriana, it was very loosely adapted. Obviously, Baer being in the CIA he couldn't cite certain material, but nothing on historical or religious items addressed in the book? It does make you think, and I'm sure there is more truth than fiction here.

The kingdom maintains a huge inventory of pipe, which makes a single saboteur no more threatening than a gnat, but multiple saboteurs operating in concert at broadly spaced intervals throughout the oil web would create a plague of gnats as unpleasant and diverting as - and far more destructive than - the clouds of gnats that settle on Sunday picnics. Makes you wonder if letting Bin Laden go at Tora Bora was ordered from Riyadh. The US relationship with Saudi Arabia is much more of a mess than I could have imagined and this book shed light on that connection and discussion about the wider middle east.

US politicians especially, and the US government as a whole, and their willingness to overlook blatantly immoral and illegal acts of the Saudi royal family, have been an issue since the beginning. Dressed in a pair of pressed Levi's, suede Italian loafers, and a diaphanous white linen shirt, he could have passed for a well-heeled tourist. Baer, ex-CIA bete noire of the establishment, offers less of his personal experience here, really just beefing up an analysis any one of us could make if we just took the time with his personal involvement when he was in the CIA. In a short note, It's refreshing and fun reading through every line making it difficult to put it down till the last word just before wanting to start reading again. My friend figured that the Russian, with all his loose cash, might want to get out of the arms trade and clean up his reputation.

The book "Sleeping with the Devil" discusses the flawed and corrupt nature of the US political system, intelligence and counterintelligence apparatus, defense industry, energy economy, and policy towards the Middle East. Any oil extraction, production, and delivery system relies on a large, mostly exposed exoskeleton. The money and arms that we send to Saudi Arabia are, in effect, being used to cut our own throat, Baer writes, but America might have only itself to blame. Things are even worse than they seem. This book is for conspiracy theorists who need a second opinion.
