This memoir is one heartbreaking read narrating in details about the physical and emotional abuse of Dave Pelzer ever since he was 7 years old. No, that's not true - he stood by and did nothing. The movie is in pre-production, with production set to begin in Spring 2018. I can concede This book was horrible. . I hope David has found all the love and happiness in this world. His younger brother Richard Pelzer also wrote an account of his own about growing up with their abusive mother. Reading the comments, I was pretty shocked at what I read, and kind of unsettled by it. He knew what his son was going through and CHOSE to ignore it. That's new to me. I reported child abuse in my family. It feels wrong quantifying this with a star rating, but this book was one of the oldest on my TBR and I'm glad I got to it.
