It is an extraordinarily powerful and moving film. That their only hope was to escape. The escapees of Alcatraz had a well thought out plan because some think they are currently in Brazil, on their own farm. There was no such thing as slave labor camp…. I'll repeat that: THERE WILL BE NO MORE ESCAPE ATTEMPTS IN THIS CAMP! The escape, when it arrives, is practically a relief for its straight-ahead suspense, cathartic violence and sense of chaotic liberation.
