With the help of a medium, the family is able to confront the Lipstick-Face Demon and banish it from their home. However, they soon realize that the spirit is not the only threat they face, as another malevolent entity begins to haunt them.
In the end, the family is able to defeat the second entity and bring their son out of his coma. They are finally able to find peace and return to a normal life, free from the terror of the supernatural.

Elise Rainier has nightmares with her childhood in New Mexico, where she lived with her brother Christian, her supportive mother Audrey and her father Gerald, who frequently beats her when she claims that she sees ghosts everywhere in the house. Elise blows Christian's whistle, and Audrey's spirit arrives, vanquishing Key Face. Elise realizes that like Ted, her father Gerald had also kidnapped women and held them in the secret room. As he hungrily wolfs down food, sitting with Lorraine and Renai, in the other room, Josh helps Elise pack her equipment. Melissa is unconscious, bloody, and tied up in chains. Insidious has a strong ensemble of New York City acting talent, and their multiple adult story lines are centered in their emotional and financial relationships.
Insidious Chapter 3 Plot Summary
Though it seems unlikely, it would make for an interesting plot as Elise, with her knowledge of the paranormal, would prove to be a most formidable enemy in spirit form. However, for a spirit to consume a body, a period of time and energy are required. Sean and Quinn learn that Grace has passed away in her sleep. He repeatedly shouts at her to leave him alone as Renai desperately screams for him to return before the spirits overwhelm them. As Riley prepares to board a bus bound for Minnesota, however, her last personality island falls and breaks the tube, sending Joy into the Memory Dump along with another personification when he tries to rescue her. Elise tells Specs and Tucker that she had seen the spirit before when she was a young girl.
