The Hunger Games is a science fiction novel written by Suzanne Collins and published in 2008. It is the first book in a trilogy, followed by Catching Fire and Mockingjay.
The story is set in a dystopian society called Panem, which is located in what used to be North America. Panem consists of a wealthy Capitol city and 12 poorer districts. As punishment for a past rebellion, the Capitol holds an annual event called the Hunger Games, in which one boy and one girl from each district are selected by lottery to participate in a brutal fight to the death on live television.
The protagonist of the story is a 16-year-old girl named Katniss Everdeen, who lives in District 12, the poorest and most remote district in Panem. Katniss is chosen to participate in the Hunger Games along with a boy from her district named Peeta Mellark.
As the games begin, Katniss and Peeta are forced to fight against other teenagers from the other districts, who are all trained and well-equipped for combat. Despite being at a disadvantage, Katniss uses her skills as a hunter and her knowledge of plants to survive in the arena.
As the games progress, Katniss and Peeta form a bond and try to protect each other, defying the Capitol's expectations that they should fight to the death. Eventually, they become the only two remaining participants in the Hunger Games and the Capitol is forced to declare them both winners, breaking the rules of the game.

It goes very well with all the Kardashian filth. Even within the district, different social classes are divided, and it seems that the classes are divided by ethnicity. District 12 is located in an area which used to be called Appalachia. The male tribute goes by the name Peeta Mellark. Then the male tribute is selected. It felt so real.
PLOT It's a potentially exciting but gruesome story, but most of the characters were rather flat, much of the plot was predictable it's not hugely original; in particular, it is VERY similar to the Japanese "Battle Royale" , and there were too many flaws in the plot.
