Something that would have been a common occurrence during the war. The short story is about a sniper that is in a civil war. Almost immediately a bullet flattened itself against the parapet of the roof. The last paragraph shows that during the war people lose their relatives and close friends. While staking out, the sniper got shot in the arm by a fellow sniper and is faced many challenges in order to survive. The story Sniper i believe was a fun story to read in general, action and suspense made key factors based on the main character. Rereading it again in 2020, I am struck by the wordplay of this three page story.

After killing the two people, the enemy Free Stater sniper shoots and hits the Republican sniper in the forearm. Morning must not find him wounded on the roof. He rolled over the roof to a chimney stack in the rear, and slowly drew himself up behind it, until his eyes were level with the top of the parapet. Beside him lay his rifle and over his shoulders was slung a pair of field glasses. Their houses are destroyed.
