"Forrest Gump" is a 1994 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks as the titular character. Based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom, the film follows the life of a kind and slow-witted man who, despite his low IQ and various physical and social challenges, manages to achieve great things and touch the lives of those around him.

The film opens with Forrest sitting on a bench at a bus stop, recounting his life story to anyone who will listen. Through a series of flashbacks, we see Forrest's childhood growing up in rural Alabama and his close relationship with his mother (Sally Field), who is a loving but fiercely independent woman. Despite facing numerous challenges, including a physical disability that affects his leg and a series of unfortunate events, Forrest remains optimistic and determined to make the best of his life.

As he grows older, Forrest (now played by Hanks) becomes a talented football player and is eventually recruited to play for the University of Alabama. However, his career is cut short due to the Vietnam War, and he is drafted into the military. Despite being ill-suited for combat, Forrest becomes a war hero and is awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery.

After returning home from Vietnam, Forrest embarks on a series of adventures and encounters a host of memorable characters, including his best friend Bubba (Mykelti Williamson), a shrimp boat captain who teaches him the ins and outs of the business; Jenny (Robin Wright), a free-spirited woman who becomes Forrest's lifelong love interest; and Lieutenant Dan (Gary Sinise), a Vietnam veteran who becomes Forrest's close friend and business partner.

Throughout the film, Forrest's unwavering kindness and generosity have a profound impact on those around him, and he serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who encounter him. Despite facing countless setbacks and challenges, Forrest remains determined and optimistic, always finding a way to overcome any obstacle that comes his way.

Overall, "Forrest Gump" is a heartwarming and uplifting film that celebrates the enduring power of the human spirit. Hanks delivers a career-defining performance as the lovable and endearing Forrest, and the supporting cast is equally strong. The film's message of hope and perseverance is timeless, and it remains a beloved classic to this day.

Forrest, always trying to protect Jenny, once, beats up her date, because he misunderstands the situation. One big way it amazes me, is the way which it, as a simple and guileless little story, like a feather wafting in the breeze, nevertheless evokes raw rank hatred and eyeball-bulging, forehead vein-popping, spittle-spewing vitriol from liberals and so-called "intellectuals" who are absolutely certain that, like a guided missile, it is seeking them out, intentionally, personally, to insult them with rightwing thoughts and ideas, and by a nitwit character no less. I remember John Byner, the stand-up comic and impressionist of the 1970s talking about guys crying at movies, how it's not an acceptable behavior. One by one and all together Forrest sticks by and takes care of his family, friends, and loved ones. Due to his disabilities, Forrest experienced bullying at school. . As far as I might be concerned, the plume is an image of immaculateness, effortlessness, and secret excellence prepared to buoy and take off high.

Like many of the truly good movies, there are people out there who see it once and consider it to be a waste of time. I would only mention that the skillful and seamless blending of music, action, and period costume was enthralling. I have seen this movie easily a half a dozen times, and I find that the beauty of the film is how Forrest Gump not only shares his innocence and purity with others, including the audience, he also manages to retain that innocence and purity through some very difficult times. He wants to be a good son to his mother; he desires to be with the love of his life, Jenny, to have good friendships with his fellow soldier Bubba and Lieutenant Dan, and to be a responsible father to his son at the end of the movie. It does what movies are suppose to do: make you feel alive. The story of Forrest Gump is a story of hope, love, perseverance, respect, and tolerance. Forrest is born to an Alabama boardinghouse owner That's how he gets a college football scholarship, in a life story that eventually becomes a running gag about his good luck.

The movie is more of a meditation on our times, as seen through the eyes of a man who lacks cynicism and takes things for exactly what they are. I've seen this film only a couple times in the past, thinking it was good, but only considering it for it's entertainment value. And the music rocks. I am not kidding, "Forrest Gump" is a remarkable movie and inspires everyone. Jimmy Stewart in, "Oh, what a wonderful life," - yeah right! Dan Taylor was an honored man, before his legs were, amputated after taken part of the Vietnam War. I still cry, particularly Forrest telling Jenny why he loves her so much "You're my girl! Bottom line, this is not a political movie. Despite the number of computer effects that the man is forced to work for, he does every move and articulation in a totally convincing way. Like Forrest's mama says, the film's like life which is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you'll get until you open it. Here he makes a good friend, Bubba, who knows everything there is to know about shrimps. She is Forrest's love and best friend and she takes a different path of life one she chose with more deliberation than Hanks. Forrest and Bubba makes a deal, that they will start their own shrimp business one day. Tom Hanks delivers another great performance in his career by portraying the lovable, king yet not so intelligent character Forrest Gump.

The dialogue adds to both the comedy and the plot development. Doing that in my humble opinion Gary Sinise has become one of the great Americans of our brand new millenia, a lot more than just an actor. That truly although life may throw us trials and tribulations like a box of chocolates but that we have to just bite into it and get through it even if we don't like it. Highest praise to Zemeckis, who has reached a higher maturity plane with his gracefully, technically eloquent direction. Anytime he thinks she's in trouble, he rushes to the rescue, ready to beat the ever-loving snot out of anyone who even looks at his Jenny wrong. Endings are explained, twists are unraveled, and plot holes are filled in. As one of the first films, they actually fool the viewer in a rather unexpected way.
