Memento is a 2000 neo-noir psychological thriller film directed by Christopher Nolan. The film's screenplay was inspired by the short story "Memento Mori" written by Nolan's brother, Jonathan Nolan.
The film tells the story of Leonard Shelby, a man suffering from anterograde amnesia, a condition that prevents him from forming new memories. Leonard is on a mission to find and kill the man who raped and murdered his wife. However, due to his condition, Leonard is unable to remember anything for more than a few minutes at a time. He relies on notes, tattoos, and Polaroid photographs to try to piece together his past and track down the perpetrator.
