What do I miss the most? While we all know there is a lot more that could have been done or something that could have been done differently over the years to establish a better education system, I think the very fact that each one of us here and I would believe most of us in this room would have come out of the Indian education system, would have served our country, our own vocations honourably. But each one of us in our own social vocation has been able to serve society, serve the nation. Without you all, our college would have been so incomplete. And despite the partition, despite the country going through such trying times, recognized that India is the land where we would like to stay, and live and work and serve, and as Education Minister I think at that point of time in 1947, it must have been a big challenge to bring in the Indian education system in the circumstances in which we achieved independence. My daughter who was then I think in the 9 th or 10 th standard was in the audience, sitting below the Red Fort, the crowd, and I remember coming back home, and her wanting to discuss this comment with the Prime Minister in detail, because it had a deep impact on my daughter, as I am sure it must have had an impact on many girls around the country.
Certainly, the last two are my favorites. Have we really taught the children, the boys of our society what should be their outlook, what should be their approach? Blasting Into the Past The past 20 years have been a rewarding journey for FAITH Colleges. That year was memorable to me since it was my first foundation experience at FAITH Colleges. Dancing has always been my passion. And, therefore, the Founders Day would be a good opportunity for each one of us to reflect on how we can contribute to addressing this challenge that the nation is faced with, this challenge of including every section of society to partake in high quality education, to benefit from the quality of education and the holistic education that a school like Modern provides its wards.
It is therefore obvious that the day is special and needs celebration in due manner. This we can do towards our companion Sisters by word and example, and towards others, especially school children whom the Blessed Virgin leads to us. That same year, FAITH was also hosting the NCAA-South Season 12 which made the event bigger and louder. What do you say on Founders Day? This holistic thinking, if it can be taken to the next level and to the next level, right down to the child at the bottom of the pyramid, the child who is in some sense been deprived of this quality of life, I think we can truly look for that new India, that new India which is free of corruption, which is without casteism and communalism, an India where every child gets quality education, everybody gets quality healthcare, shelter, 24×7 power, a toilet in their home, that new India, that vision of new India will always remain incomplete unless there is participation of every citizen, every well-meaning citizen of this country. Wishing a very Happy Foundation Day to all. This certainly sparks a feeling of nostalgia, especially in old students like me as wonderful memories of the past celebrations come flooding into my mind. This could help them better appreciate the improvements they are currently enjoying which have been worked-hard for by school authorities, parents, and students that came before them. Every year, there were different sets of activities and competitions that we truly enjoyed and valued. Shindig 2016 will always be special to me because it was the first time I experienced the feeling of having long, blonde hair. Because of the nature of our work, our department would be working most of the time while the entire community participated in the activities throughout the week-long celebration.
Together, we got the inaudible in school. The proceeds from selling tickets to the Shindig went to the Bato-Balani Foundation. Bravehearts, ASEAN, Shindig, and the class picnic lunch. On special milestones such as the 10th or 25th founding anniversary, the celebration may be done for several days. I do share her sentiments both as a parent and as an employee. Speeches of school authorities are heard as they enumerate school accomplishments and their goals and plans for the coming years. While saying something on Foundation Day, I should not miss thanking the founders of this great institution, who had a vision of imparting such high quality education to the students.
