Insidious: Chapter 2 is a 2013 horror film directed by James Wan. It is the sequel to the 2010 film Insidious. The film follows the Lambert family, who are still dealing with the aftermath of the events that occurred in the first film.
The story picks up shortly after the first film ended, with the Lamberts returning home after successfully rescuing their son, Dalton, from the Further, a realm inhabited by malevolent spirits. However, they soon realize that the spirits are still following them and attempting to possess Dalton once again.
To try and protect their son, the Lamberts seek help from Elise Rainier, a psychic who helped them in the first film. Elise is able to communicate with the spirits and learns that they are being controlled by a malevolent entity known as the Bride in Black.
As the Lamberts try to figure out how to defeat the Bride in Black and protect their son, they uncover a series of disturbing secrets about their family's past. It is revealed that Dalton's mother, Lorraine, is actually the Bride in Black, who has been possessed by the spirit of a woman who was wrongfully accused and executed for the murder of her husband and children.
In the end, the Lamberts are able to defeat the Bride in Black and save Dalton, but not before suffering several losses and being forced to confront the dark secrets of their family's past. Insidious: Chapter 2 is a suspenseful and chilling horror film that builds on the events of the first film and explores the theme of the consequences of one's actions.
‘Insidious: Chapter 2’ is an insipid, pointless flick
Horror movies are not like other movies, because there are so many possibilities for sequels, just look at the "Friday the 13th" series. With all these problems, does that this movie is bad? And the complexity of it will make it a movie worth seeing multiple times in order to catch everything. If you want to see it and have a jump scare fest, you won't be disappointed. The plot is alright in the sense that it actually has a thought out story line, even if it is down right stupid at times. Josh's body begins to slowly deteriorate and Renai realizes he is possessed. The Lambert family is haunted once again and there's a massive backstory to explain 'how it all started'.
Ebiri: Insidious: Chapter 2 Is a Scare Machine in Excellent Working Condition
Josh, Renai and their children - Dalton, Foster, and Cali - relocate to Lorraine's house, where they again begin to encounter strange paranormal events. Especially noteworthy is the one scene, where the baby-bed is revealed to be empty. Why are characters recapping the events of the last film to each other? It does lack tension and suspense and other scares are predictable and felt like throwing in as many horror elements as one can muster regardless of originality. Although this has been a bold choice by the director, the expression known as 'dull surprise' is always spot on. Insidious: Chapter 2 felt very different from the original.
As seen in "The Shining" 16 The son disguised as his mother, murdering people! The thing is that you have a glimpse at a few disturbing things but your vivid imagination might think further and that's where this fantastic movie automatically leads you to a few nastier thoughts. Silence can create a listening space, where rather than give you something else to listen to it enables you to hear things. Meanwhile in the real world, Parker, as Josh runs after Renai, and their two sons wanting to kill them. INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2 offers all that and a bag of chips, one can even call this movie, INSIDIOUS: The Origin Of The Bride In Black. There's also a lot of comic relief from Tucker and Specs. They are barely moved in when supernatural occurrences start to begin again with objects moving, spectral voices, apparitions appearing and dear old dad acting very strange. This is nothing like being dead.
Carl and Josh escape and Dalton leads them back to the living world, allowing Josh to finally regain control of his body. Insidious Chapter 2 is tense and intriguing. Is it as scary as the first? This being said, you absolutely need to have seen the first film if you want to try out this one because if you don't know the first chapter, you won't fully understand the second. The ending should be left as it is, if not, we are looking at the next paranormal activity, the BS will just go on and on, but people will see it. This sequel does once again have a lot going on in it, but none of it works.
Retrieved June 5, 2013. There are big drawbacks but there are good things here too. Retrieved June 5, 2013. Josh Patrick Wilson , Renai Rose Byrne , and their three children are all safe and move in with Josh's mom. Carl, Specs and Tucker arrive to drug him but he subdues them. Now, I'm going to try to do this review without spoiling details, and it's going to be hard but I'm going to try to the best of my ability. Wilson deserves guarded praise for his sometimes-effective performance.
Not that everyone loved the original, but those that did Like me liked it because it had a lot going on in it. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Everything is as it should be. If you have seen Insidious, just see this! That's why this movie is one of the rare really convincing sequels as it lives up to the brilliant first movie. Retrieved September 12, 2013.
The acting is awful as well and it is difficult to get behind the haunted family when all you want them to do is head to the nearest acting class. Did care for the characters, they were not ones that bored or frustrated me. Renai is haunted by a woman in white and Josh Patrick Wilson has a strange behavior at home. Other spirits could be in them. But to be honest, the twist raises more questions.
Carl, Specs and Tucker go to Lorraine's house and find that Lorraine's assumption is correct. This movie also takes a break from well-timed, well-placed, non-predicable and terrifying jump-scares. There is hardly any violence, no blood, but they are some of the most jumpy films that I have seen. Retrieved September 16, 2013. Yes this was a hard one to pull off so perhaps they shouldn't of tried.
