Cinderella Man is a 2005 biographical sports drama film directed by Ron Howard and written by Cliff Hollingsworth and Akiva Goldsman. The film stars Russell Crowe as James J. Braddock, a struggling and impoverished boxer during the Great Depression.
The film opens in the early 1930s, as Braddock is a successful boxer with a loving wife, Mae (Renée Zellweger), and three young children. However, his career takes a turn for the worse when he suffers a string of losses and is forced to turn to manual labor to support his family. Desperate and struggling to make ends meet, Braddock decides to return to the boxing ring.
Despite his disadvantaged circumstances and being considered a washed-up fighter, Braddock manages to make a comeback and begins winning bouts. He becomes a sensation and is dubbed the "Cinderella Man" by the media, due to his improbable rise to success.
As Braddock's fame and success grow, he is given the opportunity to fight for the heavyweight title against the reigning champion, Max Baer (Craig Bierko). Baer is arrogant and dismissive of Braddock, but Braddock's determination and perseverance pay off as he defeats Baer and becomes the heavyweight champion of the world.
The film ends with a montage of news articles and photographs documenting Braddock's rise to fame and his legacy as a champion.
Cinderella Man is a heartwarming and inspiring tale of triumph over adversity. It showcases the resilience and determination of the human spirit, and serves as a reminder that anything is possible if we are willing to work hard and never give up. Overall, it is a beautifully crafted film with excellent performances by Crowe and Zellweger, and is definitely worth a watch.
