Nigel Leaney, a volunteer and paint specialist from Lincolnshire, helped to uncover the original colour which John Carr, the architect for Lytham Hall, used in 1764 when the Hall was built. A repast fit for a king. Perhaps the most interesting is an oil-on-panel portrait of Sir Cuthbert Clifton who purchased the manor in 1606. He had an unhappy childhood and seems to have ended up hating his father. He was a great benefactor of both Lytham and St Annes, having laid the foundation stone for the latter when aged seven. Lytham Cricket and Sports Club is based in Church Road, Lytham. The North Entrance porch was done first to show visitors how the front of the Hall would look when complete.

By the 1800s, they spent little time at Lytham and the estate was managed in their absence by trustees and land agents. This Jacobean house still exists today, connected to a later Georgian hall. Their great wealth allowed them to travel widely, especially in the 19th century, and the Estate, which was entailed, was administered by Trustees and managed by a series of land agents. On viewing the exterior of the Georgian part, symmetry is a key feature. Cuthbert Clifton paid £4300 for the Manor of Clifton in 1606. Likewise some of the interior rooms feature both real doors and their dummy counterparts that cannot be opened, but preserve the symmetry of the rooms. GRE have been very good stewards, having restored and preserved the buildings and latterly allowed restricted public access by arrangement. It has 4 golf courses and hosts the British Open Golf Championships on occasion. . Inland for suburban estates, plum-est of which is east of Blackpool Road.
Lytham Hall This Grade 1 listed building is probably the finest Georgian house in the North West. It includes people from various professions, those who are retired and students.
