Eponine and Cosette are two characters in the novel "Les Misérables" by Victor Hugo. Both women play significant roles in the story and are connected through their relationships with the male protagonist, Jean Valjean.
Eponine is the eldest daughter of the Thénardiers, a family of dishonest innkeepers. Despite being raised in a household of crime and cruelty, Eponine is a kind and compassionate person at heart. She is deeply in love with Marius, a young man from a wealthy family, but is unable to express her feelings due to her own lack of social status and her family's reputation.
Cosette, on the other hand, is the daughter of Fantine, a former employee of Valjean's factory. Fantine is forced to leave Cosette in the care of the Thénardiers when she is fired from her job and subsequently falls into a life of prostitution. Valjean, moved by Fantine's suffering, decides to rescue Cosette from the Thénardiers and raises her as his own daughter.
As the story unfolds, Eponine's love for Marius drives her to help him and Cosette escape from the clutches of the ruthless police inspector Javert. In the end, however, Eponine sacrifices her own life to protect Marius and Cosette, showing her selfless love for them.
Throughout the novel, Eponine and Cosette represent two different aspects of femininity. Eponine represents the struggle and hardship that comes with being a woman in a male-dominated society, while Cosette represents the innocence and purity of youth. Despite their differences, both women ultimately find redemption and love through their relationships with Valjean and Marius.
In conclusion, Eponine and Cosette are complex and well-developed characters in "Les Misérables," each representing a different aspect of femininity and the challenges that come with it. Their stories are a testament to the strength and resilience of women, and the power of love to overcome even the most difficult of circumstances.
My Rants!
After three years avoiding the empty brownstone, Cosette is forced to return for winter break and discovers an unexpected guest in the kitchen. Thenardier takes money from whoever he can by creating schemes. Anyways, that's my thoughts, they are both good characters in my characters, but what do you guys think? This she already knows. . The musical omits this. I doubt anyone in the first situation would have internet connection For what it's worth, I've always preferred Cosette. Hers is the kind of love that illuminates, that saves; Eponine's love made her attempt to kill Marius.

Éponine
She is unable to make anything other than what Valjean wants her to make. Cosette spends the time he's recovering from the barricade making him bandages and crying. Did you dislike Enjolras because he has no solo, too? I mean, she has a volumn named after her. I don't think she did it to be with him in heaven. .

Why is Eponine prettier than Cosette in nearly every production? : lesmiserables
Compare And Contrast Cosette And Eponine English Literature Essay. She tells him she is dying and that she has taken the bullet for him. The story presents her, allowing the other characters to obsess over her. Also, I think that productions have no care for the physical descriptions of the book. He represents how imperfect but lovable the human race can be. Cosette is a bland character.

Cosette vs. Eponine
But musical Eponine is far more interesting than musical Cosette. After her family's bankruptcy of the inn, they move to Paris and live in a small run-down apartment at Gorbeau House under the assumed name of "Jondrette". Also I have a rough voice when I sing. But you soon outgrow that and move on. In her heart of hearts, she was wild and brave. Eponine inspires me; Cosette soothes me. She is a spoiled, bullying prat who becomes sad, suffering and selfish character.

Marius notes that the handwriting and the stationery are identical to the letters in the package. Her life is like this until Jean Valjean rescues her and takes her into his care. Cosette spends the early part of her life completely abused and then goes from that to being completely sheltered. Personally i think Eponine is the stronger of the two but Cosette is my favorite of the two for the reason that she went from bad to good conditions instead of good to bad conditions. Both Eponine and Cosette were amazingly written and played characters. Throughout the book, if one truly looks at the character of Cosette closely, the reader would see she is more of an empty figure instead than an independent one.

What do you think Eponine and Cosette sacrificed for Marius that showed each girl loved him?
I don't have to. Quique wrote: -Then there are the annoying "Eppie fans. On another note, are the Eponine fans in love with English! She is but a "lark" whom Valjean protects so completely that after a few years in a bitter childhood, she never wants for anything again. I love her too but there's not much there to love and I get bored. I do agree that it doesn't seem strong that she would choose to 'kill' her loved one since he didn't want to be with her. For example, during "In My Life", she basically demanded the truth from her father, wanting to KNOW who she was and where she came from, and asserting that she wasn't a child any longer and shouldn't be getting the run-around from Valjean. In the book, after finding Cosette not at her house, Marius wants to end his life.

The only time I enjoy her is when she faces down her father's gang. In fact, upon her death, when she is being held by Marius, she declares that she feels perfectly wonderful for no other reason than because she is in his arms. Through all these differences, Cosette and Eponine have one big thing in common, their love for Marius. The novel has no similar scene. Cosette and Eponine are good characters to compare based on their traits, but Eponine wouldn't be the same if she ended up with Marius! I don't really like this debate either because there are those, on either side of this issue, who will tear down a character and insult that character's fans though I understand some fans can be annoying.

She's also completely reliant on her horrible father. Nowadays, girls tend to love brown and shiny skin shows that they are healthy and rich enough to go travel. I just don't like how perfect Cosette is and it makes me root for passionate Eponine, but when it really comes down too it Marius deserves someone like Cosette because Eponine deserves someone SO MUCH MORE than Marius. At the end of the novel, I didn't like Cosette. Personally, I can relate to most of the characters.

All through elementary school, I was a spoiled child, I was the envy of all my friends. Just because Eponine has the catchiest song doesn't mean she's the one you need to project yourself onto.

Éponine's Love
Until the next rant, see you guys!! They say she sacrificed herself for love - bull. However, I have to put in a plea for Cosette, who didn't exactly have it easy herself at the beginning and her protected upbringing, whilst well-meant is very unlikely to make her a thinker and fighter like Eponine had to survive. I hated Éponine before reading Hugo. Unfortunately, the character has now evolved to a whiney modern-day brat. Despite the hour, the clouds are low and hazy gray-orange, casting a strange dim light into the windows and over the straggled girl. Which SOUNDTRACK note the sarcasm do you think is best?
