For example, one night, stuck by a pin, Abigail accuses Elizabeth Proctor, of creating a poppet and sticking a pin in it to harm her. Abigail takes advantage of the events taking place in the village. Tho she is intelligent she does not use her intelligence in the correct ways, she only uses her intelligence to make up lies, which goes against the Puritan beliefs. A young brain is filled with creativity, imagination and innocence.

One must think of the elements of love, personalities of persons, and the maturity of females as displayed by the characters. Most if not all Abigail's actions have revolved around her love for John Proctor. Abigail lies to conceal her affair, and to prevent charges of witchcraft. Abby is a strong character because she gains power through her lies. When things start to go not the way Abigail had planned, she manages to flip the situation into a positive for her and manages to gain a position of power. At this point Betty, Mr. Abigail Williams from The Crucible has several similarities and differences from the Abigail Williams from the Salem Witch Trials.
