King Ashoka the Great was an Indian emperor who ruled from 273 to 232 BCE. He is remembered for his military conquests, as well as for his efforts to spread Buddhism and promote nonviolence throughout his empire. Ashoka is often depicted in various images as a powerful, wise, and compassionate ruler.

One common image of Ashoka is that of a strong, imposing figure. He is often depicted with a muscular build and a regal bearing, symbolizing his power and authority as a ruler. This portrayal is further emphasized by his royal attire, which often includes ornate robes, crowns, and other symbols of his status.

Another image of Ashoka that is commonly seen is that of a wise and thoughtful ruler. This is often depicted through images of Ashoka seated on a throne, with a calm and contemplative expression on his face. In these depictions, Ashoka is often shown surrounded by advisors or scholars, symbolizing his interest in learning and his desire to seek out the best counsel for his empire.

A third image of Ashoka that is often seen is that of a compassionate and caring ruler. In these depictions, Ashoka is often shown surrounded by the people of his empire, with a compassionate expression on his face. This image is meant to convey Ashoka's concern for the well-being of his subjects, and his desire to see them thrive and prosper.

Overall, the images of King Ashoka the Great that have been passed down through the ages convey a sense of his power, wisdom, and compassion. These qualities, combined with his efforts to promote Buddhism and nonviolence, have made Ashoka a beloved and revered figure in Indian history.

‘American Gangster’ Review: Movie (2007)

Yet it seems like they are all saying the same thing, that Gangster didn't have enough action and was really drawn out. Nevertheless, he's the cop who doesn't take bribes and arrests high-powered criminals, because it's the right thing to do. But, maybe most surprisingly, it's also a superb character drama and study. Washington puts his sleek charisma to good use as the fastidious Lucas, a man who can shoot someone in the head without batting an eye but is thrown into turmoil by a splash of blood on his rug. When he's not talking, just the way his face is set, he totally totally gets in this character.

This isn't to suggest Scott's film is a bad one: On the contrary, the movie is exceptionally well-made, with a sharp script, meticulous direction, and typically terrific performances from its leads, Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. Anyone who has every seen a Ridley Scott film will know that his films are long! However, Scott is able to meticulously recreate it. Crime films can depict the life of real-life criminals or fictional criminals. Though it's in the leagues as being entertaining as the above mentioned movies, it really just never felt like I was watching a "new" story. How accurate do you think it is? We see a similar tale here with "Lucas," except that his fall is sudden in this story, unlike Pacino's character.

American Gangster (2007)

In the end you have a great no-pretence, gritty, almost old-fashioned film noir gangster movie. But I will put this film in my top films for the year, if only because I have been immensely unsatisfied with the bulk of releases this year. Finally a good, accurate, gangster drug-trafficking film that makes you think. But when his boss suddenly dies, Frank exploits the opening in the power structure to build his own empire and create his own version of the American Dream. His major weekly outings are to church with his mother the inestimable Ruby Dee or to his nightclub with wife Eva Lymari Nadal , a former Miss Puerto Rico. I think it is a safe statement to say that most people, like myself, appreciate a movie that depicts a person or persons rising to the top of the food chain by perseverance, hard work and some smarts, even if their profession is less than honorable. He's so slimy, money-grubbing, and yet intelligent and an equal, he's just cunning.

Ridley Scott's direction, brilliant, what can you say. But Richie turns in the money and is given the management of the new force and told to choose only people he can trust. As for "American Gangster", I found it to be a revealing look at how a poor kid from the South could rise up the ladder of organized crime and become a hero in his own back yard. By this I specifically mean the use of music. The Mafia can't believe it, either, but Frank not only pulls it off, but is still alive at the end. He has a strong positive gesture towards his family and city and it shows that he loves both of them very much; but on the contrary he also makes efforts on vital basis to spread drugs in the city and play major role in the deaths, destruction and drug addiction in the entire city.

It's far from Polyanna and lets no-one group off; not gangsters of any race or ethnicity, not cops on the take, addicts, etc. Lucas' spectacular success in selling heroin enables him to use the massive profits to expand the rest of his operation and buy a mansion in New Jersey into which he moves his mother and brothers. I was a bit confused in the first 25 minutes but things straightened out after that. And the real tragedy of it all, was that Frank Lucas only got 7 years in prison, instead of the 70 years, he was sentenced to serve. He is himself a loner a role Crowe does well at in many films , but he must butt heads all the way along. So there's a lot of story to explore, and Scott makes it one of the most invigorating, nostalgic ironically speaking New York crime films in years, as far as the storytelling goes. Even though it does lose focus now and again, it never loses sight of the prize.

The Movie Review: 'American Gangster'

This contrast has been set very neatly by the script writer and the director. The fact that such a character really did exist yet I do not remember it certainly intrigues me. He personally flew to Southeast Asia to buy his product directly from the suppliers, used an ingenious importing scheme to get it into the United States, and sold it at higher purity and lower cost than anyone else was able to. The character of Frank Denzel Washington is the story of a man, who because of his own issues with the abuse of being a black man with few prospects, driven to become "great. The cast includes Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Josh Brolin, Ruby Dee, and Ted Levine from Monk. He commits extremely violent acts, which are depicted explicitly often with guns and accompanied by blood, wounds, and groaning. He finally targets Frank, but no one will believe him.

I do not really understand the Oscar nomination for Ruby Dee playing Frank Lucas mother. These parts raise questions in minds such as; how come a movie would portrait the life of woman who is ex-wife of a cop with so many details and what is the use of focusing on the life of a woman in the story of a criminal drug lord? In the interview, Santopietro states "The film changed Hollywood because it finally changed the way Italians were depicted on film. The performances are solid, the direction is strong and there are some good scenes. Good supporting cast too. Richie Roberts is an outcast cop close enough to the streets to feel a shift of control in the drug underworld.

S via military planes and then flooding the whole city with his uncut drug products, which ultimately makes him the king of the drug world with the huge profits of his drug sales. In part, this is a function of Richie's liberal bent. November 4, 2007 1:58 pm Vibes63 I just saw the movie last night. Based on a true story, this one brings added poignancy to the screen, knowing that the principals played out a real life drama in the seamy underbelly of New York's Harlem. But that doesn't save us from a stock female character who is becoming increasingly tiresome in the movies, the wife It is about an extraordinary entrepreneur whose story was told in a New York magazine article by So he flies to Thailand, goes upriver for a face to face with the general in charge of drugs, and is rewarded for this seemingly foolhardy risk with an exclusive contract. On the other side, detective Richie Roberts Russell Crowe is an honest responsible cop who has been assigned the task to administer the task force and bring down Frank Lucas to his end. I was surprised by how uncinematic it felt though. Despite the fact that he ruins lives by supplying heroin to the population, he laments the arrival of supermarkets and discount electronics stores due to the loss of customer service and at Thanksgiving he passes out turkeys to the poor. Looking to avoid the glitz and publicity of his peers, Lucas makes a connection in the Far East after seeing a news article on the abundance of drugs and its impact on US soldiers. Both Washington and Crowe are powerful in their separate sides of the story. It made Italians seem like more fully realized people and not stereotypes. American Gangster is a perfect gangster film.
