Alexander Oliver Stone is an American filmmaker, writer, and actor known for his controversial and thought-provoking films. He was born in New York City on September 15, 1946, and grew up in a middle-class family in the suburbs of New York.

It is an epic that follows in the tradition of the astonishing Cinemascope and Vista Vision movies of the 195os and 60s such as Ben-Hur, Quo Vadis or The Ten Commandments.
