He has been a painter since his teen years and has led a distinguished career, most notably as the official curator of Deaf Way II art exhibitions at Gallaudet and in Washington DC area in 2002. Chuck Baird Chuck Baird was born deaf in Kansas City and along with his three older sisters, went to the Kansas School for the Deaf. He finally joined the National Theatre of the Deaf in 1980. This artistic concept does not only include Deaf artists and not all Deaf artists are included and must fit a specific criteria including a relation to Deaf experiences, a use of color contrast, centralized focus, and exaggerated facial features. What I find similar in both our works is a sense of whimsy. He left the team because he said he preferred to take art classes rather than go to football practice.

He attended the Kansas School for the Deaf, Gallaudet University, formerly College and National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology. For the more artistic opportunities, he left the NTD to live nomadically in California and Arizona. Its mission is to fundraise for various programs focused on promoting emerging deaf visual artists and educating people about art appreciation, among other goals. He is probably best remembered for his work in "King of Hearts," based on Phillippe de Broca's cult film classic. I let it lead me to whatever it will be.

His artwork was included in a book on the subject, Deaf Artists in America: Colonial to Contemporary by Deborah M. Chuck Baird, Sunset via Deaf Art Teacher Chuck Baird was born deaf and fluent in ASL, receiving an education rich in Sign Language from the Kansas School of the Deaf, Gallaudet University, and the Rochester Institute of Technology RIT. He has performed at some Equity theaters. In the role of the Painter, Chuck recreated the entire set each night in front of a live audience. ASLdeafined is a subscription based website for American Sign Language ASL video lessons. During time, he has often traveled to paint murals or lead art workshops for deaf children at schools, summer camps, and at art festivals. It has been designed to instruct Deaf students, parents of Deaf children, and the community-at-large.

His first exhibition was the Deaf Artists' Exhibit: World Federation of the Deaf Conference, In May 1989, prior to the international Deaf culture festival at Baird was renowned in the first Deaf world. While at RIT, he played four games as a defensive lineman on the football team under coach Tom Coughlin, who now coaches the two-time Super Bowl champion New York Giants. In the year when the first airplane broke the speed of sound, Chuck Baird was born in Kansas City with a moderate hearing loss but grew up culturally deaf. Baird spent his first 5 summers after graduation at the National Theatre of the Deaf NTD painting their sets. Currently, Chuck lives in Phoenix, AZ, with Claudia and two pets, Zorro and George. Chuck served as Visual Arts Coordinator for the deaf art colony Spectrum - Focus on Deaf Artists. In 1980, he joined the National Theatre of the Deaf NTD for the next 10 years as an actor and as a set designer.
