I met my husband in a rather unconventional way. We were both studying abroad in Rome, Italy, and were paired up as roommates by our program coordinator. When we first met, we didn't really hit it off. I found him to be a bit arrogant and he thought I was too uptight.
However, as we spent more time together and explored the city, we began to appreciate each other's quirks and unique perspectives. We bonded over our love for Italian cuisine and discovered a shared interest in photography.
One of the highlights of our time in Rome was when we took a weekend trip to the Amalfi Coast. The breathtaking views and delicious seafood brought us even closer together, and by the end of the trip, we had developed strong feelings for each other.
After we returned to the States, we kept in touch and eventually decided to give a long-distance relationship a try. It wasn't easy, but we made it work and eventually got married.
Looking back, I'm grateful for the opportunity to study abroad and for the chance to live with my now-husband. It was a risk at the time, but it ended up bringing us together in a way that we never could have predicted. It just goes to show that sometimes the best things in life come when you least expect it.

They will have many questions for their parents and I fear that the movie will be so uninteresting for them, that they won't even know how to explain it. Artemis Fowl II, in the debut book of this series, is the very definition of someone willing to do anything it takes even a little kidnapping and ransom-demanding for what is ultimately a good cause trying to save his mother. The action scenes are badly shot and edited. It not only defuses any sincerity about the characters but also manages to destroy any possible tension. George and Harold link up in kindergarten to reduce a quartet of vicious bullies to giggling insanity with a relentless series of pranks involving shaving cream, spiders, effeminate spoof text messages and friendship bracelets.
The biggest problem with the movie is that it is incoherent and that it is an "adventure" film that pretty much takes place in one setting: Artemis' house. On that note, the narrative itself is uncomfortable. Artemis Fowl the Second is a 12-year-old evil genius. He and his crew are confronted by the other fairies as they try to reach a conclusion that will help them reach their goals. To summarize, not recommended. The performances are tedious and bad. It is so boring and like aimless. Or something like that.
Why go through the trouble of casting Farrell if you're not going to use him? But to watch Artemis Fowl is to also feel like studios have maybe lost the thread when it comes to what was appealing about these would-be franchise launchers in the first place. It's actually his first role and it definitely shows. Accompanied by his bodyguard-cum-assistant Butler and Butler's teen sister Juliet, Artemis sets out to kidnap a fairy for the purposes of obtaining fairy gold in order to restore his family's fortune and hopefully help his mother, who has had a nervous breakdown after his father disappeared. The movie hinges on the sudden disappearance of Artemis Fowl Senior It's a huge departure from the books, where Artemis learns about the fairy world after manipulating an alcoholic sprite in Vietnam, stealing her book and translating the runes himself. The producers even a cast a young boy as Artemis Fowl, a role he never got to play.
A hectic and frustrating 94 minute movie with no emotions, weak CGI and an incoherent screenplay. The being, Opal Koboi was the most powerful faerie at one point. Why, or why not? I seem to have been running into a lot of fairy books lately, and the majority of them portray the fey as evil, or at best, mischievous. For the first half of Artemis Fowl, Branagh relies on clunky plot dumps from Diggums to tell us who these characters are. The words d—n and h— appear several times.

The movie is pretty decent, fun and interesting. It's a fun, rollicking masterminded adventure for kids. From studios releasing some of their anticipated films early on-demand to straight-up selling the rights to streaming services, Disney must not have had faith in Artemis Fowl, but nobody thought twice about it going to their streaming service, due to theatres being closed anyways. I honestly thought at the beginning that the film could be so bad that it's good, but it quickly became really boring. I'm soo upset you've done this! I was given a copy by NetGalley to review; the book was actually published in 2001, and a movie is currently being made, reigniting interest for young readers and movie goers.
The boy genius is prepared for war against faeries within minutes! I decided to watch it today and after seeing, ooh boy, I now know why Disney made this decision. Zooming into the pages of Artemis Sr. I've been a fan of Artemis Fowl for years. To top that off it is also really nonsensical and confusing. Might as well have changed the title too.
